✶ AFTERCARE ✶
After our session, I will wrap your tattoo. Please keep this bandage on for the rest of the day.
Before you go to bed, take off the bandage and wash it as instructed below. Please note I do not provide DermShield, so click here if you’d like to order some ahead of time!

You will need a fragrance-free gentle liquid soap (Dial Gold), paper towels, and a moisturizer (cocoa/shea butter works great, as do Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc).
Step 1 | Wash your hands, & wash your tattoo, lathering gently.
Step 2 | Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Step 3 | Let the tattoo breathe for 10-15 minutes.
Step 4 | Re-wrap your tattoo to protect it overnight, either with non-adherent pads or seran wrap. Don’t apply any moisturizer under the wrapping!
Step 5 | The next morning, unwrap and wash your tattoo thoroughly.
Step 6 | Allow the tattoo to breathe again, and apply a very thin layer of moisturizer (unless you’re applying DermShield).

There are two options for aftercare at this point:
DERMSHIELD | You may choose to apply a DermShield bandage, which remains on the skin for 3-5 days. Make sure to thoroughly clean the area before applying, as to not trap any bacteria in the wound, and don’t apply any moisturizer underneath the bandage (here are instructions from their website if you need). When removing DermShield, do so very gently under running water with soap to loosen the adhesive.
DRY HEALING | If not using DermShield, simply continue washing your tattoo 2-3 times a day and lightly moisturizing as needed, whenever the skin feels tight or dry.

Your tattoo will fully heal in about 2 weeks and will settle in your skin over the months following.
You'll be able to tell your tattoo is healed once it stops peeling. While your tattoo is healing, please remember to keep your tattoo out of bodies of water (the ocean, hot tubs, baths, etc), as it can mess with the healing process and introduce bacteria into the wound. Also be mindful of your sun exposure, don't apply sunscreen on your tattoo until it has healed, and avoid picking at the healing skin.
